PJM's power generation change due to U.S. COVID-19 lockdowns by source 2020
The generation of electricity from coal has been severely impacted in several countries during global pandemic caused by the disease COVID-19, including the United States as is evident through PJM Interconnection. During the lockdown period between March and April 18, 2020, coal power generation in the U.S. regions served by PJM interconnection decreased by 40 percent, compared to the same period one year before. Solar power generation, on the other hand, increased by 45 percent during that same timeframe.
